Considine Building, Armagh

Considine Building, Armagh

On the afternoon of Friday 16th December, a large representative group assembled in the foyer of the beautiful new Science & Technology building – a building which had sprung up as it were – over the past year alongside the pathway leading down to the Callan block.

We received a warm welcome from the members of staff who directed activities there, and – in groups – were given a directed tour.

Finally, the Principal, Mrs. Deirdre McDonald, arrived, and introduced the architect, members of the board of governors, representatives from the educational world and former teachers. A large group of senior pupils also attended.

She then paid a warm tribute to Sister Dolores Considine (who could not be present) speaking of her great courage, the encouragement she gave to those with whom she worked – and her clear vision of the future. It was her deep conviction – years ago – that Science and Technology would come to play such a vital part in the education of the future. And so it has happened.

Mrs. McDonald said, it seemed fitting that this new building should bear her name.
